Dalhousie / King's UltimateDKUT > History > 2009 UPA College Sectionals 2009 UPA College Sectionals(April 18, 2009) Congrats to DKUT for their success in UPA College Sectionals, April 18-19, 2009. In spite of the 12-hour bum-numbingly bladder-poppingly exhausting drive to Vermont, our DKUT boys placed tied for 3rd (Open) and our DKUT girls placed 5th (Women's) in the ENE section. Unfortunately neither team will be attending regionals. For your interest, check out this (blog) from a Dartmouth player's perpective into the semifinal battle between Dalhousie and Dartmouth. The pertinent excerpt is reproduced below... (Apparently it is of the opinion that Dalhousie has ineligible grad students on its roster every year, and interestingly every year the UPA seems to approve its "ineligible" roster for the College series. Moreover, this year Dalhousie's roster was questioned by yet another team and all its players were ID'd without any players being found to be ineligible. It's good to see that other programs respect Dalhousie's diligence and work ethic, and percieve our legitimate success to be unlikely without illegitimate methods.) ....Sunday Solidly in the Championship bracket as the A1, we had to win quarters, semis, and finals to get that first of three bids to Regionals. Quarters was against Colby. Seeing as how they made it to the Quarters, they probably weren't a half-bad team, but seeing as how our team didn't need a warm-up game, we promptly dispatched them 15-2. Easy-peasy. Semis against Dalhousie were a different matter. Dal always has a bunch of ineligible grad students (read: dudes in their mid to late-20s) that have been playing with them for just about forever, and as a result they've always got smart, experienced players with good throws. Very early on, this game got really chippy with calls on both sides that raised a few tempers. If I'm not mistaken, they led early in the first half and played moderately well all game, but we were just a notch better and finished the game at cap 13-8.... |
